EVERYTHING IS SCALABLE
April 2022
“The needs of an Olympic athlete and our grandparents differ by degree, not kind.”
“We scale load and intensity; we do not change programs.”
“Our terrorist hunters, skiers, mountain bikers, and housewives have found their best fitness from the same regimen.”
>>>> “What is Fitness?” – CrossFit Journal (October 1, 2002)
We frequently hear comments such as “I need to get in shape before I join you for workouts” or “that looks way too intense” or “no way I can do those wild movements.” Do not be afraid. With our help, you too can receive the same physical stimulus and benefits as all our members and friends.
Everything we do at CrossFit P.U.G., and in CrossFit more broadly, is scalable. Anyone can do the workouts that we do. We are here to help. We are committed to improving your fitness and reaching the best physical outcomes that you can achieve. We do this so you can carry your groceries from your car to your kitchen on your own; so you can keep up with your children at the playground; so you can continue to complete those local 10k’s or bike rides with friends; and so you can live independently for decades to come.
By now, many you have seen the video snippets of the events that Team P.U.G. completed at the WOD Wars Fitness Festival in Florida. A few of you have commented to us with wide eyes about the toes-to-bars, the runs with sandbags, and the weighted box step-ups. Well, guess what? If you came to this past week’s park workout, with some basic and minor tweaks, you basically did the same workout! And everyone who was there commented about how fun it was!
In Florida, the “Sun and Fitness” event was a team workout for time that consisted of:
Shuttle sprints with a sandbag (relay style)
45 Synchronized toes-to-bar
45 Handstand pushups
Shuttle Sprints with a sandbag (relay style)
45 Synchronized weighted box step-ups
45 Pullups
Shuttle sprints with a sandbag (relay style)
This past weekend, we split into pairs and completed:
Shuttle sprints (relay style)
60 sit-ups (split amongst partners)
60 pushups (split amongst partners)
Shuttle sprints (relay style)
60 lunges (split amongst partners)
60 dumbbell rows (split amongst partners)
Shuttle sprints
Notice the similarity? Everyone at the park got a taste of a VERY similar (but less “scary” or intimidating) workout, received the same stimulus, and had fun racing each other.
Come work out with us. Bring a friend. Start with our weekend park workouts. Everything we do, you can do in some form or fashion while reaping the same benefits. We will meet you where you are and we will get you where you want to be, all while having fun.
